The analysis columns suggested to you were for travelling, postage and stationery, motor expenses and sundry expenses. The following transactions took place in April 2013: 1 Received cash float of RM100. 2 Paid RM4 for taxi fare. 3 Paid sundry expenses amounting to RM5. 4 Paid RM9 for stamps and envelopes. 6 Paid for petrol for office van RM15. 7 Paid RM6 for writing pads for the office. 8 Paid RM3 for paper clips and staples. 9 Paid RM6 for taxi fare for staff. 10 Paid sundry expenses amounting to RM8. 11 Paid petrol for office van RM16. 13 Paid RM4 to send registered mail. 14 Received amount from chief cashier to bring petty cash balance up to the original amount 2. Simple Sdn. Bhd. operates a petty cash fund based on the imprest system. The petty cash book is analysed for the following categories of expenses: Postage, Stationery, Travelling, Sundries The balance of the petty cash fund on 1 October 2013 was RM200, which was equal to the orig- nal petty cash float. The following transactions took place in the month of October 2013: 2 Purchased pencils and pens RM20. 4 Bought sundries amounting to RM18. 5 Bought RM10 worth of envelopes. 6 Paid RM15 to send out registered letters. 7 Paid RM6 bus fares. 8 Paid RM1 bus fare . 9 Purchased pencils and pen refills RM18. RM4 postage for letters mailed. 12 Paid RM19 sundries. 13 Paid RM3 for erasers for office use. 14 Purchased RM10 worth of stamps. 15 Purchased photostat paper RM13. 16 Paid RM8 for bus fares. 18 Paid RM3 for sundries. 19 Paid office boy RM10 for taxi fare. 20 Obtained reimbursement from chief cashier. 11 Paid Required: (a) Draw up an analysed petty cash book to record the above transactions. (b) Open up the relevant accounts in the general ledger to record the totals of the expenses from the petty cash book. 3. A coffee shop owner decided to use a petty cash imprest system for his business and on 1 July 2014, opened a petty cash book with a float of RM100. The following were some transactions that took place during the month of July 2014: 1 Paid RM3 for pens and other stationery. 2 Paid RM5 for invoice book (for writing invoices on request of customers for receipts). 3 Paid RM5 for transportation of supplies to the business premises
