Question1. In recent years escape rooms (or escape games) have become popular in the form of a live-action team-based activity where players cooperatively discover clues, solve puzzles, and accomplish tasks in one or more rooms to accomplish a specific goal in a limited amount of time. If you were one of these team members, would you prefer to be surrounded by convergent or divergent thinkers? Why?

Question 2. Which contributes more to intelligence: nature or nurture? Can parents increase the intelligence of their children? If so, in what ways?

Answer 1. It may be beneficial to have a mix of both convergent and divergent thinkers on an escape room team. Convergent thinkers can help ensure that the team stays on task and focuses on the most efficient solutions, while divergent thinkers can bring fresh perspectives and ideas that might lead the team to discover new solutions or creative ways to solve the puzzles.

Ultimately, the most important factor in an escape room team is effective communication, collaboration, and the ability to work well together. Both convergent and divergent thinkers can contribute to a successful team as long as they are able to communicate their ideas effectively and work together towards a common goal.

Answer 2. Nature contributes more to intelligence, and this is supported by facts within our e-book from page 242. This page states that a range of 50-70% of the variation of intelligence among individuals are from genetics. Nonetheless, lesson 7.7 stresses on how genes play a significant role within intelligence. Therefore, based on these facts, nature justifies a large contribution to intelligence compared to environmental factors, such as nutrition, education, and socioeconomic factors. Although parents cannot their child's genetic makeup, they can take steps to improve the child's environment to enhance intelligence. For example, increasing a child's exposure to books, creativity and exploration within activities, having a healthy diet, and encouraging the child to engage in physical activity. In summary, nature plays a significant role in contribution to intelligence, however, parents can create positive environment for their child to enhance intelligence.
