QUESTION \# 1 Condensing steam flows inside a circular pipe with I.D. 5.0cm and O.D. 5.5cm. The pipe is made of copper (k=380W/m1K1) and well insulated with two layers of insulations. The first layer is 0.5 in thick glass wool insulation (k=0.04W/m1K1) and the second 1 in layer of magnesia (k=0.1W/m 1K1 ). The steam maintains the outside wall temperature of the copper pipe at 200C while the outside surface temperature of the composite wall is 60C. Calculate the rate of heat transfer per linear foot of pipe. Also calculate the inside temperature of the copper wall. Sketch the process and write down all the assumptions
