Billy arrived at the Town Hall at 9 am on December 31. The organisers advised Billy that they had terminated the contract. Stan had pain in his shoulders and attended his doctor, Dr. Morticia. The doctor examined Stan and prescribed tablets for Stan. Unfortunately the doctor made a mistake in the type of medication. This wrong medication caused other serious health problems and injuries for Stan.

As a result of the injuries Stan needed two operations and was off work for two months.

Is the doctor liable in negligence for Stan's injury? What does Stan have to prove? Discuss and support the answer with case references. Both common law and statute should be examined in the answer.
