Question 2 The Asian developmental state model is a paradigm that focuses on state-led development and conceptualises the conditions for rapid growth and industrialisation in Japan, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan in the 1980s through the 1990s. Since the 2000s, however, scholars have argued about the demise of the developmental state, due to dense globalisation and the proliferation of global production networks.
