Question 1 Should Trader Joes invest in more technology like self-checkouts, TVs, or radios?
Question 2 Should Trader Joes change the products that they rotate stock more frequently or less frequently?
Trader Joes has a prestige about being comfortable in knowing what they are. They will probably be competing against other grocery stores forever. The uniqueness of Trader Joes puts it into a different category that other typical grocery stores arent capable of. By offering private label products they are not over saturating the supply market and creating a false sense of demand. It can be used to manipulate the customers or potential customers to come into the stores if there is limited quantity. The smaller parking lots also help with making Trader Joes locations seem busier than they are. The products that they carry are rotated in and out of stock. This can also create demand for products that the customers might not be able to buy if they wait and they are no longer in stock at their local store. Trader Joes also keeps their overhead low by avoiding expensive marketing. When is the last time you saw an advertisement or commercial for Trader Joes? I would bet that most of you have been into a Trader Joes before. I like the idea of having employees rotate jobs through out their shift. This allows everyone on staff to learn more jobs around the store and to understand what other employees do.
