The person inside the car, Mr Nole Mint, survived but was badly hurt and had to spend 3 months in hospital to recover. This was the first time ever that a driverless car did not follow instructions and went off course without any explanation or warning. The crash caused a media frenzy which reflected adversely on the business reputation of Your Drive. Mr Mint's legal team contacted Your Drive and indicated that they want to press charges and claim for the damages caused for an amount of $1,000,000. On 31 December 2020 the legal team indicated that they are going to file class-action papers with the High Court in Auckland within the next few days and await the eventual court ruling.
