Each product must pass through the Assembly Department, the Programming Department, and the Testing Department. In each department, direct materials are added at the beginning of the production process and conversion costs are allocated evenly throughout the process. RL Ltd uses the weighted-average process costing method.
The following information is available for the month of May 2022 for the Assembly Department.

e. Discuss the key differences in computing the cost of products using the weighted-average and the first-in-first-out (FIFO) methods of process costing (students are to explain the computational differences in detail). (4 marks)
