Question
A copper one containing 20% CusS. 40% FeS: 30% SiO; and 10% H:O is roasted by using fuel oil whose weight is equal to 5% of the ore weight. Exhaust gases formed as a result of combustion process are mixed with the product gas of the roasting reaction and discharged as flue gases. Sulfur is exhausted as sulfur dioside and discharged as tie gases. The products of roasting reaction are CoO. Fe-O; ve SiO, Roasting and combustion reactions are realized using 100% excess air. The fuel contains 85% C and 13% H.
a. Determine the amount of the air (m) used per I tome ore.
b. Determine the weight of the roasted ore.
c. How many grams of H-O is found in fiue gases per mi.
a) CusS=200 kg, Fes,=400 kg. SiO,=300 kg., H.0=100 kg., Fuel oil-50 kg.
