Researchers are interested in what factors are most strongly related to success in graduate school. They sampled 224 graduate school admissions at a local university. Admissions criteria including undergraduateoverall average percent grade,scores on the math subtest of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), andscores on the verbal subtest of the GREwere each considered. All variables were measured as continuous scores. These researchers wanted to know how well each admissions criterion was related with graduate school success which was measured by cumulative GPA (on 4-point scale) in grad school.

a) What type of statistical approach should be used to analyze these data? Briefly explain the data characteristics that you used to make this decision.

- This is a Chi-square test; however, I am having a hard time identifying if this is a good fit test or an independence test type Chi-square. I originally chose Chi-square independence test because I had thought the researcher is interested in the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and the average percentage grade as the two nominal variables. I am aware that the Chi-square independence test needs two nominal variables; however, I am not sure that these are.
