Fiji water was sold to Roll International, controlled by one of Hollywood's richest couples, Stewart and Lynda Resnick. Fiji Water was a glamourous brand and a growing and money making when they bought it. Now Fiji Water is a universal brand with its sales increasing and making it largest imported bottled water brand in the US. They introduced a promotional campaign touting an environmental policy and plans for a reduced carbon footprint through a series of press releases. Fiji Water announced that it planned to go carbon negative by offsetting 120 percent of emissions via conservation and energy projects starting in 2008. it has also promised to reduce its pre-offset carbon footprint by 25 percent next year and to use 50 percent renewable energy, in part by installing a windmill at the plant. Fiji Water supports the centrepiece of Fiji Water's $5 million "Fiji Green" marketing blitz, which brazenly urges consumers to drink imported water to fight climate change. The Fiji Green website claims that because of the 120-percent carbon offset, buying a big bottle of Fiji Water creates the same carbon reduction as walking five blocks instead of driving. As the business, profit and sale increases there will be increase in employment opportunities. Waste reduction through the recycling of water bottles Fiji Water provides staff with strong compensation and benefits which includes insurance, healthcare and education as stated on the Fiji Water website. There will be increase in staff salary due to increase in profit. Fiji Water has done major contribution and has future plans towards betterment of environment in Fiji. This will lead to waste reduction and help Fiji fight climate change. This will better the environment of communities closer to the factory in Ra. Fiji Water also increase in salaries and jobs, also contributes to community aiding (schools, hospitals).
