Quote of the Day and Date at the same time in simple Java

Can anyone help me with this, I need to write in Javascript( no JQuery) a code that shows a quote of the day with the date at the same time. I would like to use firstChild.nodeValue to write to the quote of the day and the date and (createTextNode(), createElement(), appendChild()) to loop through and to display all of the quotes on the page. Can you give me an example code that I can use as guidance? The only one that I have been able to do is just showing one item, but not a combination of quote and date and the display of other info at the same time.

I need something like this

Quote of the Day

Wednesday

I also want to display other quotes or info below the date
