Radio frequency $(RF)$ bandwidth is a precious commodity. Wireless service providers pay hefty amounts to

purchase small portions of RF spectrum. For example, Jazz Pakistan has paid $$324\mathrm{.}5$ million$[1]$ to Pakistan

Telecommunication Authority $($PTA$)$ for a bandwidth of $10MHz($i$.$e$.$ $$324\mathrm{.}5$ for $1Hz).$ Now the service

providers earn many times of this amount by utilizing the purchased portion of the spectrum. They provide

voice, data and video services to its users in such a way that each user occupies a very small bandwidth so

that more and more users can be accommodated within the limited bandwidth. The more the users served, the

more the revenue generated. To minimize the bandwidth occupied by$/$allocated to a user, the system designer

carefully chooses the system parameters, such as modulation scheme, modulation order, pulse shape, etc.

In this assignment, the objective is to select the type of modulation $($PSK$,$ FSK$)$ and modulation order $($M$)$ of

a system with the following specifications:

You must justify your selection by comparing the different options in terms of the number of users that can

be accommodated in a bandwidth of $1MHz.$ It may be noted that the system can transmit only limited power

and therefore maximum available SNR can't be increased to more than $10dB.$ Once the bandwidth

requirement of a single user has been calculated, the maximum number of users can be determined. Moreover,

if the service provider charges are known, the total daily or monthly revenue can be calculated. For simplicity,

we can assume that at anv given instant maximum number of users are accessing the spectrum.
