Ratioal Decisions?

First, make sure you have watched the two TED Talk videos on the extent to which consumers are rational vs. irrational decision makers - and what might influence these decisions. (1). YouTube URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jpLC6P08F-A (2). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8l5N3EZaABU

Think about two specific examples of decisions you have made: (1) One where you were more of a rational decision maker, and (2) one where your decision was more "irrational". Using concepts from these videos, answer the following questions:

  1. For each purchase describe the specific product and brand you bought.
  2. For each purchase describe how (in what way) the purchases were examples of rational vs irrational (non-rational) purchases. What were the major differences?
  3. Discuss what you think might have influenced you to make these choices in different ways? Discuss why you chose through different processes.
  4. Finally, were there any differences in your satisfaction with the two purchases?
