Read the article entitled 'Migration and Remittances: A Case Study of the Caribbean' and do ONE of the following:

1. You have recently migrated to the United States, acquired a job and have started sending a large portion of your salary to your family in Jamaica (you may choose another Caribbean country). Your friend (in Jamaica/other Caribbean country) is very concerned about the level of your remittances. Write a letter and explain your motives which are based on the Pure Self Interest Model outlined in the article.

2. Your twelve year old niece is upset that the level of remittances normally sent by her mother in Canada has been drastically reduced. Explain to her why this is so, using the Pure Altruism Model as a reference point.
