  1. When employers are recruiting to hire staff, workforce diversity and inclusion plays a significant role in order to enhance the success of the organization. When an organization has a diverse workforce, they benefit by having motivated employees who wil improve productivity. The organization that I work for holds cultural days so that all employees are able to celebrate their cultures and educate those who are unaware of the cultural differences that we may share.
  2. Due to the constant change of societal norms, people are evolving and living their lives as they want to. In the workplace, diversity describes the current makeup of the workforce. The role of diversity is to remove barriers and ensure that every employee has equal access to opportunities and support at a company. The goal is to ensure fairness and equity for all employees, regardless of characteristics like gender, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, and age. Diversity and inclusion are an ongoing process. When a company has a well-designed diversity and inclusion policy, it cannot only make better and fairer decisions at the recruitment stage but will also foster a healthier workplace where employees feel heard and supported. (1) The current organization that I am employed with provides employees access to resources so that we can view solutions and tips for creating a healthy, inclusive workplace. It is important that we continue to develop an inclusive workplace as it will help build a positive atmosphere that everyone will enjoy being a part of. An inclusive workplace will increase employee morale and create a vibrant company culture, which will allow individuals to have fun at work while being accepted by the individuals of the organization. For example, our department is made up of individuals of different ethnicities, religious backgrounds, ages, and sexual orientation. We developed a cultural committee that meets monthly to develop activities that surround cultural holidays, interoffice gatherings, and team building activities in and out of the office. The out of office team building activities allow us to be ourselves and mingle more with those that we normally do not work with in a closer capacity. At the end of the month, we have a team outing planned at TopGolf as we have hired several new employees in our department. This will serve as an icebreaker and welcome them to our team in an informal setting.
