Whether its action, adventure or the thrill of the chase, CLIF BAR wants people to share how they Meet the Moment by uploading inspiring photos and stories CLIF BAR will award three people who upload the most inspirational and creative Moments by July 31 an opportunity to pursue their dream adventure. Each winner will select the adventure of their choice (up to a maximum value of $12,000) - be it trekking the Amazon, chasing the Tour de France, riding a wave at J Bay, extreme boarding at Marmot or any other athletic adventure theyve dreamed about. To protect the places people play, CLIF BAR also will donate $5 to one of five nonprofits dedicated to protecting outdoor places each time someone creates and uploads their first Moment. To further support these conservation and preservation efforts, CLIF BAR will double its contribution to each non-profit if people submit 10,000 Moments by July 31. All told, CLIF BAR, the nations #1 energy bar, could contribute up to $125,000 to the five organizations. The five non-profit beneficiaries that people can select from to direct a $5 CLIF BAR donation on their behalf Leave No Trace, International Mountain Biking Association, Surfrider Foundation, Access Fund and Winter Wildlands Alliance were chosen for their focus on protecting the places where people Meet the Moment and their dedication to ensuring that outdoor spaces will be preserved for future generations to experience their own Moments. Meet the Moment will culminate Oct. 1 with CLIF BARs first National Day of Action, an inspirational day of volunteer activities making a positive and lasting impact on the outdoor places and spaces where memorable Moments occur every day. How to Post a Moment Anyone is invited to upload a photo and share their Moment at http://www.MeettheMoment.com. The Moment can be described in magnetic poetry style by choosing from a bank of words that will be placed on top of the photo to create an individualized postcard. People can also opt to add their own words to their postcard. Once the postcard is complete, it can be posted to a photo gallery on http://www.MeettheMoment.com. The gallery is designed to serve as a visual community of people sharing athletic adventures and stories. Once submitted, Moments will be plotted on four different energy maps that will track the location of like-minded individuals, the number of Moments dedicated by sport, the number of Moments assigned to each non-profit and the feelings Moments created. People also will be able to scroll over Moments in the Moment Gallery and on the energy maps to learn the story behind each postcard, with the goal of inspiring more Moments of outdoor adventure. In the last few years, CLIF Bar has established itself as one of the premier outdoor enthusiast brands. With the release of innovative new products, CLIF Bar has become a staple in the diets of many climbers, hikers, and other outdoor lovers. A big reason for the companys overwhelming success isnt linked to its high-quality products, however. It is CLIF Bars determination to engage its core audience, as well as its demonstration of responsibility to nature and the community the company seeks to serve that truly sets it apart. Its this drive that inspired CLIF Bar to launch its newest initiative last month, Meet the Moment. A large part of our company culture has been sharing our adventures with each other, and we wanted to expand that, said Project Manager Rachel Klipp. We created Meet The Moment to help create a community where athletic adventure could easily be [shared], and to hopefully help inspire and spark new adventure. The social media campaign, which encourages people to share photos of outdoor adventures with the hashtag #meetthemoment, is much more complex than your average social media movement. We have been deeply involved in certain sports for many years, including climbing and cycling, and the nonprofits we work with for Meet The Moment reflect those relationships and tie back to those communities. Each Clif Bar package contains a call to action for adventures. To further facilitate involvement, all 17 CLIF Bar flavors will feature adventure challenges on the packages to inspire consumers. Challenges like, get your feet wet, embrace the elements, change your altitude, or dive in are nondescript, and therefore open to interpretation. Our hope is that the 20 Adventure Challenges we put on CLIF Bar wrappers will give people a spark of inspiration to see where their adventures will take them, she said. CLIF Bar athletes have also gotten involved, uploading their own photos to CLIF Bar social media as they take on adventure challenges. I travel the world in search of my next great climb. My idea of adventure might be very different from someone elses, which is whats cool about Meet the Moment. It gets you thinking and hopefully inspires you to try something new, climber Alex Honnold said of the program. He, along with big wave surfer Greg Long, snowboarder Jeremey Jones, runner Dakota Jones, and surfer Lakey Peterson are just some of the notable adventurers meeting the moment and helping raise money for charity. Surfings connection to the ocean and the environment is truly unique. I dont take that for granted and, as it has given so much to me, I want to give back. Peterson said. I like that CLIF Bar plays a hand in supporting that idea on a bigger scale. Already almost two months into the program, Klipp said she could not be more ecstatic about the response so far.
