You could make a decent argument for any of these organizations actually. Since we have been in the Covid-19 pandemic, all of these organizations have gone through some rough financial stretches since most of their seasons were postponed until much later in the year. According to an article published by the talent agency at cnbc.com, the NFL would most likely be the most recession proof and have the least amount of financial risk. The NFL has the highest television ratings out of any of these mentioned organizations (Koba, 2013). Roger Goodell's handsome salary of over $30 million says a lot as well (Koba, 2013). Football is played on Sunday's and fans always anticipate Sunday's to be home or go to their favorite spot to watch the games. The NHL is probably the most consistent and steady performer out of all of these. During the great recession back in 2008, the NHL was able to keep their attendance numbers up (Koba, 2013). The NHL also has 7 teams from Canada as well as that does slightly affect them differently than the other sports.

The NBA has had some huge changes in their ratings over the past few years. This year the NBA ratings went down astronomically. People say the Virus has had a huge impact and there are a couple other factors as well but they are not appropriate and do not pertain to the material in this class or what this discussion is about. It is really Covid-19 that has really affected sports (Futterman, Draper, Belson, & Blinder, 2020). It has impacted economical and traditional topics amongst sports. The NCAA and professional sports leagues are working diligently to fight through this pandemic and keep their athletes and players as healthy and safe as possible.
