  1. Read the following procedure carefully. After reading the entire procedure, you may begin the lab.

  1. By typing numbers in the appropriate windows, attach a 4 N weight to the "left" cord, a 3 N weight to the "right" cord, and a 5 N weight to the "below" cord. (Be sure to hit the "enter" key after each one.) For future reference, we will refer to these three weights as A, B, and C for left, right, and below respectively.
  2. Record in the first table these three weights, and the angle that each of their attached cords makes with the vertical. (Since C hangs straight down, its angle is zero.)Be sure to include the appropriate units in the column headings at the top of the table.
  3. Now change the weights as follows: place a 5 N weight on the "left" cord, a 4 N weight on the "right" cord, and an 8 N weight on the "below" cord. To prevent confusion with the previous setup, we will refer to these three weights as D, E, and F for left, right, and below respectively.
  4. Decrease weight F one newton at a time until angle E is 90 degrees. Record in the second table these three weights, and the angle that each of their attached cords makes with the vertical.

If you have not already done so, fill in the following table with the values you found in the simulation.
