Rent for the apartment is $1,200 a month, gas and electric are another $150, and their cable internet package is $90. In addition to shared expenses, Jamie also pays $45 a month for her phone, $200 for food, $85 for car insurance, and another $85 for gas.
Jamie uses a combination of grants and student loans pays her tuition at UMKC, but she works part-time at Pizza 51 to pay her living expenses. She makes $8/hour, but spends $1.50/hour on gas delivering the pizzas.
