Read this paragraph on some of the roles that parents might play in the development, implementation, and evaluation of positive behavior that supports for their children. What they might do and how they might participate. Some of the factors that influence how parents might participate and respond to it as if having a back and forth discussion.
Some of the roles that parents might play in development, implementation and evaluation of positive behavior support for their children is huge. From experience, as a parent I know that my role is a very important factor in my children's development, implementation, and evaluation of positive behavior. Children need a role model, someone to guide them into the do's and don'ts of this world. Teachers, educators and parents are the core for children to be successful in who they become in the future. As the book mentions, "A common assumption in education is that parent and family involvement is critically important and is the best predictor of academic success for children and youth in school."(Wheeler & Richey, 2018) Like the saying, "It takes a village to raise a child", is true. Teachers and parents are the ones who usually want to help children be successful in any way, and help children in any ways possible. I have had a current situation with my own child, who is struggling with reading. I can say that I wish I was more present in his schooling to be able to support him. I have now taken that into consideration, and have collaborated with his teacher on how we can help him be a more successful reader. His reading was starting to affect his behavior and willingness to do work in the classroom. I have now made sure that I read with him every night, even if it's a short story. His teacher has sent home stories that we both know interests him. In a short week, he started to have a positive attitude about school again and got his reading levels up to grade level and is now more confident not only in his reading but in himself as a student. He lacked self confidence for a little bit, and like his parents, I had to make sure that he knows he can do anything as long as he tries. In this case my participation is to present, be a good role model, and uplift those who need it. Parents and or if you are not a parent, but want to become an educator, first and foremost need to understand the child, see where they are coming from, see what best interests them, and use that to help them learn, and become successful and confident students.
