Reading the below, respond to the following for this assignment.

  1. What type of leadership doesPendo Systemshave? Describe themajor differencesyou see between Pendo and more traditional style organizations.
  2. How have you seen data usedin an organization where you have worked? What aspects of leadership benefit from the use of data analytics?
  3. Evaluate an organization you are familiar withor select one to use as you respond to the question of, "What data do you feel can be helpful for leadership?". Be sure to include the type of organization with your response. (For example, specific types of data that leaders may find useful regarding turnover in a take out delivery service.)

PAMELA CYTRON: We've got some really interesting questions

that we have to get answered around what have we done

that's had the biggest impact.

When you're in a startup and when

you're trying to do something transformative in the world,

every day you're faced with challenges.

My name is Pamela Cytron.

And I am the founder and CEO of Pendo Systems.

At Pendo Systems, our mission is to get at the center of data.

And we believe that data is like oxygen. It's everywhere.

It's really the next probably largest commodity

that will fuel everything that we do in the future.

PAMELA CYTRON [continued]:

How we mine this new commodity is

going to be the instrumental part of how

the industry grows during this next fourth Industrial

Revolution.

PHILIP DODDS: I'm actually returning

adjacent parts of the block, it would end up

being something like pages one.

PAMELA CYTRON: Pendo had gone through a couple iterations

as we've grown.

And I, from a personal perspective,

was faced with two kind of conflicting diseases

at the same time.

PHILIP DODDS: --contains a subset of the data.

PAMELA CYTRON: So I believe that the combination of those things

taught me so many lessons which had a great deal of input

into how we've transformed Pendo from a very

low point in our evolution of that business to being one

of the fastest-growing technology companies that

are out there right now.

Pendo Systems was formed as an organization to find

and unlock unstructured data.

What that means is that the unstructured data that

lives and breathes in documents, we enable institutions

to be able to accessibly get at that data,

make that data addressable and machine readable.

PHILIP SMITH: In this particular workspace,

we have a half million documents.

So we transform those documents into structured data

that makes it very easy to get at the information

and the insights that are effectively locked away,

PHILIP DODDS: Pam has a vision, which is really

to change the way that people think about data

in their organization.

She's seen the legacy of poor handling of data.

And she believes very passionately

that Pendo can make changes and bring real changes around

in the way that data is used in the industry.

She believes also that that access to information, making

more data addressable, actually can

improve the value of the business,

but also the value to the customers of our customers.

PAMELA CYTRON: We're a technology company

that can address any industry.

But the market that we focused on

was within the capital markets in the banking industry.

And why we did that was after the largest financial crisis

of our world, so many institutions

did not have answers to questions.

The answers were trapped.

They were trapped in documents.

Because what needed to happen is we

need to surface the unstructured data to be

able to solve the problems and be

able to accelerate the industry forward once again.

PAMELA CYTRON [continued]:

Version one of Pendo Systems was based

on the innovation of the back office

from a Wall Street perspective.

The innovation of that came from having

been in that business my entire life.

But keeping my pulse on the industry,

keeping my pulse on the strategy,

and being able to be a successful salesperson

generating revenue for many years

gives you the ability to really understand

what people's needs are and see a little bit more

of what the needs will be in the future.

PHILIP DODDS: I think where we're looking more around how

machine learning helps us, it's a lot more

as we go into kind of narrative or flowing documents.

PAMELA CYTRON: The systems that have

lived on Wall Street for so many years,

there's a lot of legacy in that.

And with a legacy comes complacency.

And so the idea was, how could you transform them?

And how could you do it? and I think part of my success

at building the team was that people

knew that I wasn't building the company to just find

a way to make money.

They knew that there was passion behind the ability

to make a transformation that was going to make a difference.

PHILIP DODDS: So Pam brings the vision to us

in a number of different ways.

We both have weekly meetings where

she addresses the company very much

as an all hands to talk about where we are,

to talk about what's in front of us.

PHILIP SMITH: I've worked in big organizations

where you had a general sense of what the vision was,

but nobody was communicating on day-to-day basis.

So I think she inspires people in that way by being open,

being honest, by constantly communicating and telling

people what's happening so they know what's going on,

and they also understand their role in delivering

on the vision.

Pam is one of the most unique individuals I've ever met

and one of the most inspiring.
