Recent studies have raised a disturbing issue concerning the ability of developing countries to compete in the E-Business marketplace. Although researchers were initially optimistic and thought E-Commerce would be beneficial to the poor and disadvantaged from developing countries by granting them access to the markets of developed countries, this has not panned out. E-Commerce has been shown not to offer the poor (from developing countries) access to the markets of developed countries, but rather, has increased their competition by allowing big companies from developed countries access to the markets of the developing countries. Why do big companies from the US and EU feel they have to go put the poor, disadvantaged, workers in developing countries out of business by flooding their markets with cheaper products? The amount of extra profit these Multi-National Corporations (MNCs) get from taking these predatory actions is insignificant. Would it not be better for their brand names if they propped up the local tradespeople and sold their products for them on their websites in cooperation, as a special authentic offering at a higher price? What can be done to even the playing field for developing countries
