Reducing GHG emissions in Canada's buildings is pivotal to meeting the Paris Agreement targets, as buildings, including residential buildings, account for 17% of Canada's GHG emissions associated with electricity consumption and fossil fuel combustion used for space heating. While the government has policies to improve energy efficiency in residential buildings, we are yet to achieve significant reductions to meet the Paris Agreement target.
