Refer to the various files for Rent-A-Car Company (course files > Data Files > Rent A Car)
You have been tasked with analyzing the profitability of different segments of the company. Build your analysis for delivery to the Company's C-Suite. While your analysis should be thoughtful, logical, sound, and robust, your final deliverable should be short and to the point.
Submit your final presentation as one file, and your supporting analysis as a second file. Be sure to label each one.
Professional Assignment 2:
You the professional get to decide how you would like to present your findings. In data analytics, accountants often run many procedures but typically only deliver the highlights to stakeholders. This is because many procedures yield findings that are already known or insignificant. Providing stakeholders with too much information tends to lose the attention and understanding of your audience. So, you should submit two files. One Excel file (Power Query, Power BI, or Tableau) that contains your analysis and all procedures your performed. The second is your presentation file which contains only the highlights from your analysis in a format of your choosing. For example, your presentation may be a PowerPoint and voiceover recording, or simply a memorandum. It is completely up to you how you decide to share your findings with me.
Second, as is often the case with business data, the structure of the dataset here is not entirely clean. You should be looking to identify and analyze primary keys (such as 'car_id' or 'branch_id') and related foreign key data points (such as car cost, insurance cost, revenue, etc.). Other groupings for analysis that you may focus on could include the make/model of vehicles or the rental driver demographics.
Due to the number of questions I received, (and the fact that we don't have the benefit to meet in person and discuss the assignments in great detail) I will go ahead and extend this assignment until the end of next week (4/28). I think everyone would benefit from a little extra time. I encourage those of you who already submitted your assignment to go back and review what you've done in accordance with what I've described here. Also, please check out the syllabus if you have questions for expectations regarding assignment submissions.
If you are struggling or still have questions, please don't hesitate to reach out and we can always schedule office hours if you need.
