Referring to Table 1 given below. a-Estimate the corrected N1 value for each Nfield. b-Estimate the (N1)avg value you would use for a footing 2.5
Referring to Table 1 given below. a-Estimate the corrected N1 value for each Nfield. b-Estimate the (N1)avg value you would use for a footing 2.5 x 2.5 m in dimensions and located at 3 m depth (Df). Assume the unit weight of both sands is 18 kN/m3 and 20 kN/m3 above and below the ground water table, respectively. Note that overburden correction and other corrections based on GWT should be made (w =10 kN/m2 ). Assumption significant depth: 0.5 B above, 2B below the footing. c-Estimate the deformation modulus of gravelly sand at 10 m depth using Menzenbach's (1967) criteria. d- Estimate the allowable bearing capacity of a square footing for an allowable settlement of 15 mm. Note that the Nfield values can be used as N55 during the calculations. Use Bowles approach (1996). e-Estimate the (N1)60 for each Nfield value for sand layers [borehole diameter= 200 mm and the remaining correction factors should be taken according to the Turkey Regulations (i.e., Donut with 2 turns on cathead].
