Reflection on Thankfulness in Management

Part 1: Think about the following for a few minutes:

• What it would be like to lead a group of people who are genuinely thankful versus a group who were focused more on what they "deserve" or what they are not getting. Some call this second group "entitled".
• What do you have to be thankful for in your present life and circumstances?
• Have you ever met someone who was in a tough life situation, who should have been bitter, but instead was grateful? (I have and they profoundly influenced me.)
• Is it possible for an organization to cultivate a culture of thankfulness? Would it cause an improvement or a strategic benefit for the organization?

Part 2: Writing Assignment

Answer the following questions in well-structured paragraphs. Each question should be answered in a complete 5-sentence paragraph.

   2. Let's say I'm going to manage a team that is known for an "entitled" attitude. What would you recommend I do to move the culture more towards thankfulness.
