Reflection paper: Project management profile - 10% - This assignment requires you to think about your project management education and experience thus far and write a 1 to 1.5-page reflection describing your approach to project management. Essentially, this is a summary description of your identity as a project manager. Scenario papers - individual or group grades (two papers, each worth increasing grades: 10%) You may choose to work individually or in teams of 2-3 people. You will need to complete two scenarios. papers: Scenario Papers 1 and 2: (10 % each paper) Choose your own case study. Analyse the case study and explain the way you would like to handle the issue. Choose your own topic. If you are unsure of whether your scenario would be good to use, feel free to ask the professor. Each scenario paper should be structured in the same way - 2-3 pages long (including references), using the following headings in addition to any subheadings you feel are required: Introduction: Describe the background and context of the scenario you are writing about. If there is a common practice related to the case study, briefly describe it for comparison. Disciplinarity in this project: Outline the ways in which disciplinarity (of whatever type) plays a role in the scenario described. What are the implications of disciplinarity for the people and processes in this project? Issue analysis: Critically analyze the issue(s) of focus for whichever paper/case study you are writing. Recommended management approach: Describe how you would have done things differently if you were the Project Manager in this scenario. Be sure to acknowledge any challenges or limitations you would face - be realistic! Refer to project management tools, methods, and/or resources to support your recommended approach. References (references to be mentioned/ citation) Project Management ePortfolio (30%): The ePortfolio will allow you to focus on whichever field of study is of interest to you while reflecting on your previous courses and any projects you have been involved in during the certificate program. The ePortfolio is also useful for promoting yourself as a young professional, as it can be linked in your job applications as a demonstration of your competencies. Keep this assignment in mind as you progress through this course, as you may want to start collecting 'evidence' (examples of your work) early! Section 1 - Project management profile: Incorporate your reflection paper as the first section of your ePortfolio but update and expand on any sections that need it. In particular, the section on your project management approach should go into more detail about potential challenges, tasks, etc. that you might encounter and how you would address them, referring to project management tools, methods, and/or concepts as relevant to strengthen your demonstration of knowledge in the field. This section should be about 2 pages in length. Section 2 - Stakeholder engagement profile: Describe the field of practice you see yourself working in after graduation, including a description of the kinds of projects you would take on in this field. Then, explain what strategies you would prefer to use to work alongside internal stakeholders (e.g., team members and project collaborators) from other disciplines (3 marks). Conclude this section with a description of strategies you would use to engage with external stakeholders of different cultures and demographics (4 marks). This section should be 3-4 pages in length. Section 3 - Critical reviews: Summarize your three scenario papers into this section of the ePortfolio. In this section, you will use half of each page to summarize the context and issues at hand, and in the other half of each page you will summarize how you would have handled the situation if you were the project manager in each scenario. This section should be 3-4.5 pages in length (1-1.5 pages for each scenario). Section 4 - Project management competencies: Fill out the project management matrix template by a brief description of any evidence you have that demonstrate your competencies. Evidence might include discussion forum conversations, assignments you completed for other courses, your own research or research assistantship experiences, or professional work examples. Include these examples as appendices after Section 4 (2 marks). The length of this section and its appendices depends on how many examples of your previous work you include, but the matrix should be roughly a page long followed by descriptions that are up to two paragraphs long for each example you include.0 References (references and general grammar/formatting).
