5 things I learned about:

Enable and configure RSS-RSS allows incoming network traffic to be spread out to available processors on the server. This helps to increase performance. This is accomplished using the Network and Sharing Center, using the Advanced tab in Properties for the Ethernet adapter in questions.

Implement NIC teaming or the SET solution, and identify when to use each. NIC teaming allows you to join multiple network adapters into a single entity. This can be used on the host operating system with teams of up to 64 NICs, but this technology is limited to a team of 2 when used with Hyper-V VMs. SET is a Hyper-V alternative to NIC teaming, which allows up to 8 adapters to be teamed up into one or more virtual network adapters. So SET would be used with VMs where as NIC would be used on a system that is not using Virtual Machines.

Enable and configure VMMQ. VMMQ is a new technology that allows multiple queues to be assigned between a VM and a processor, it improves on VMQs technology which only allows a single queue to be assigned between the VM and the processor. VMMQ can be enabled using the following PowerShell command: Set-VMNetworkAdapter VMName -VMMQEnabled $True

Determine deployment scenarios and network requirements for deploying SDN. This is no simple feat and appears quite involved, more involved than there is room to explain in this discussion. SDN itself is centralized control of the network so that individual parts can be managed as a whole, in one place. Determining deployment scenarios for it entails ensuring several hardware and software components are correctly configured and meet requirements.

Determine scenarios for implementation of SLB for North-South and East-West load balancing. SLB is the spreading or distribution of a services workload across multiple servers. This would keep from having one server do all the work and get bogged down while having another server(s) be relatively unused. Implementation of SLB is quite involved, and involves determining the configuration you wish to use. There wasnt a lot of information on this in the book, but MS has a lot of information on it in their documentation.

I felt the book gave a quick little paragraph on some of these implementation scenarios so I had to do some research into more details. Some of them seem involved enough that to learn more about them might require a short course rather than a couple paragraphs.
