reply this I currently work in medical logistics but I am no longer in a medical facility, I am in a special duty position where our ops are catered to the needs of our instructors/students in technical training. Our biggest thing that is being forecasted I would say is our on-hand stock of supplies. Our on-hand stock should predominantly high usage items that is used by our customers most often so they should be readily available and constantly coming off our shelf. We used this application caused Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support (DMLSS) to complete transactions and it has built in configurations, applications and source that help us with forecasting among many other things. We have established levels for our on-hand stock along with reorder points that we have set based off of data we gathered, over time ranging up to a year time span DMLSS is tracking many variables such as how much is being ordered, who is ordering, pipeline time, source of supply, price. We can also create reports to track even more information and more details. With all the variables in consideration, DMLSS generates reports telling us whether we should increase or decrease quantities for on-hand stock
