reply to In my opinion, there is no single ideal organizational structure as each structure has its own advantages and disadvantages as well as best fit. The organizational structure I would prefer would largely depend upon the complexity of the project itself as well as the organization. With a very complex project with multiple components, I would prefer the projectized structure in order to avoid team member responsibilities within the project overlapping with their primary functional job duties (functional structure) and the fuzzy dual authority lines within a matrix structure. If I had the most authority and control over the project on an important or complex project, I would feel the best about its working components, even knowing that failure in any part would be my responsibility. For simple projects or projects that are continuous and routine, I would prefer the functional structure because I know I will work with specialists within each realm of the project and if the project is routine, then the same team members or those with similar job roles will take part in the project over and over again.
