Why is it important to know when challenging behaviors are developmentally appropriate?

We all know that children have different behaviors until they grow up and adult has many expectations from children sometimes the adults recognize that the children's behaviors are challenging so at this time the adult's responsibility is to support the children.

Describe challenging behaviors in your own words.

In my opinion, each different behavior that children cause harm to themselves and others is challenging behavior.

Compare your own definition of challenging behavior to the definitions in the text/module.

I think that both definitions are related, in both cases we should help the child. We should try to pay more attention to them and give importance to their wishes sometimes if we don't do this the child will be more aggressive and it will disrupt the order of the classroom.

1.) Having knowledge of Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health (IEMCH) would help one determine if the behavior displayed by an infant or child is developmentally appropriate. It is important to know when challenging behaviors are developmentally appropriate so we don't over or under react to the behavior that is being displayed by a child. As parents and caregivers of children it's imperative we know what developmentally appropriate behavior looks like so we can intervene and offer help immediately to prevent any long term mental health issues.

2.) Challenging behaviors in young children are when they throw tantrums instead of communicating theirneeds effectively. 3.) My definition of challenging behaviors pertained to me and what I felt was difficult opposed to the text definition. The text had to do with repetitive behavior in a child that may risk or interfere with their development.
