REPLY TO THE FOLLOWING

As I have gotten older, I feel that I have become less comfortable with unanticipated change within the organization. When I was younger, change felt that it was due to being innovated and even if things went poorly, there was plenty of time to adjust to make sure the correct changes were implemented. Currently change seems to occur constantly and there isn't any time to really assess how effective was the change.

I think leaders can support employees in adopting new behaviors aligning with the change efforts by adopting the image of the caretaker or the interpreter. Providing information to the employees as to the "why" or I the "what is going on" is one step in helping the alignment. This explanation of the changes recognizing employee concerns and responding appropriately are key to helping employees adopt to the change.

An example where I was open-minded and embraced a growth mindset is when I was put in charge of creating and implementing a process and a standard for performing internal audits. I looked at the change as a growth opportunity and to implement change in a positive manner. By keeping that attitude and get a collaborative team together, we were able to take the process and implement it across multiple disciplines.
