This has been applied to multiple aspects of law enforcement officers to ensure officers are able to evaluate the situation in a reasonable light of the facts and circumstances. It has helped with evaluation the seriousness of the crime, the threat posed by the suspect, and if the suspect is actively resisting arrest or attempting to evade arrest.
