The popularity of "Friday Night Lights" provides a unique supervision scenario that the athletics/activities administrator must plan ahead for. The following are what I feel would be essential staff members needs to effectively run and supervise such an event. Athletics/Activities Administrator/Building Administrators - Depending on the size of your school and district, this could solely be the administrators in your building (if you have four or more administrators), or administrators from feeder schools such as middle and elementary schools. The job of these individuals is to supervise. Ensuring that all portions of the facility are covered and supervised is important for liability purpose. Preferably, you would have enough administrators to cover supervision while the athletics/activities administrator can also supervise but focus most of their attention on the operation of the game. Gate Workers - These individuals role is to take and store the entry fees for the contest. At each entry point there should be 3-4 individuals working the booth to ensure a smooth entry process. As the athletics/activities administrator, you can either limit the entry to one location or hire an additional crew to work a secondary entry point. Scoreboard/Announcing - Having individuals to work the scoreboard is critical to the success of the contest. Without this, the game would not be able to happen. The announcer also creates a gameday experience that is important to this scale of an event. This individual can announce as well as run music for the event. Resource Officer/Police Presence - These individuals would be included for crowd control, maintain issues that could arise, and maintain order in general. Athletic Trainer - This is an obvious one. This individual would need to be present to provide medical care to both teams before, during, and after the contest. Concessions Workers - With this being such a high traffic event, having concessions is a great way to make money for your program! These individuals would be responsible for opening, running, and closing the concessions for the evening. Chain Crew - Most chain crews are provided by the school. These three workers would be responsible for measuring first downs and other yardages during the game. Custodial Staff - Clean any restrooms, facilities, and other areas before, during, and after the contest
