Requirement

You are a research assistant reporting to a finance director/partner in a large organisation. Your responsibility is to carry out special projects required by the finance director. The finance director wants to know more about the issues related to an article she has read. You have been asked to provide a report to brief the finance director on these issues to aid her decision. She has particularly asked you to focus on:

• Other information sources on these issues that might inform the organisations decision.
• The nature of these information sources; their applicability and reliability to the chosen scenario.

You are not expected to make any recommendations on what the organization should do, just to provide information to enable the financial director to make a decision.

1. Context - Provide the context of the organisation upon which the scenario in your coursework will be based i.e. identify the structure. For example, this can be a Plc, Ltd, Charity, or any other structure. You do not need to name the organisation, but you must have a clear idea of its form and the suitability of your chosen topic to it.

2. What is the decision that the Financial Director has asked for guidance on? Be as precise as possible.

3. What is the focus of your topic / what are the key issues? This should be based upon the articles you have researched. What questions do you plan to use in your report to explore the key issues? Provide a synthesis of the arguments from the articles you have found to date. Remember your aim is to guide the Financial Director in their decision making process.

This should provide a clear indication of what your research seeks to achieve.

4. Provide a list of references for some of the articles that you intend to use so far in Harvard format

5. Timescale

This should provide a guide to the anticipated completion of each stage of your research. The timescale indicated will be cross-checked against the final submission and the supervision meeting records for consistency and progress towards submission.
