Requirements: 1. Identify what type of device you forecast will meet your needs for the next two years. Consider your educational needs, your employment needs, your personal use (shopping, communication, social media), and your requirement for mobility or power (desktop versus laptop or tablet). 2. Write a summary statement that explains the device type (desktop, laptop or tablet) that! will best meet your needs for the next two years. You should identify a minimum of five reasons that led to your decision. 3. Identify what platform will best meet your needs. If you selected a desktop or laptop, will you need a Mac or Windows platform? If you selected a tablet, will you need an Apple or Android or Windows tablet? 4. Write a summary statement that explains the platform you will need, with at least three supporting reasons. 5. Identify what peripheral devices or accessories will be required, including scanner, printer, webcam, keyboard, mouse, protective case, chargers, external hard drive (for backups), etc. 6. Research various vendors to identify a high-end solution (greater cost) and low-end solution (minimal cost). Potential vendors include retail stores such as Best Buy, Apple, Wal-Mart, Target, Sams Club and Office Supply stores, and online vendors, such as newegg, tigerdirect, and amazon. Be sure to shop around for best prices, as you may discover that online retailers have competitive pricing. 7. Write a proposal for a "best solution" with proposed budget, and an "acceptable solution" with proposed budget. Provide the vendor you selected and their website link or a copy of their ad with the product information and cost information for both solutions. Explain the difference between the two proposals (how did you reduce the cost, what was sacrificed, etc.) and why you selected the proposed vendor. 8. Summarize what you learned from this chapter and how it may help you in the future. How will it benefit you in your chosen profession? How can it benefit you personally? What is the most difficult part of selecting technology? Explain how you are more confident and informed about the different computer devices available and their purpose
