Directions: Complete the steps in Parts 1-3 of this worksheet, and submit the worksheet. Include the transcripts of your practice interviews in Appendix A. Note: Completion of this exercise does not constitute field testing of your interview questions.
Part 1: Practice Interview, Interview Question Evaluation, and Learner Reflection
Step 1: Create a free Zoom account atwww.zoom.us. Go to Settings>Recording and toggle on the Local Recording function. You will want to test this before beginning your practice interviews.
Step 2: Create the Zoom meetings and send the meeting links to you participants.
Step 3: Administer the interview questions you drafted in your Topic 3 assignment to two or more non-participants in your study. Record your interviews using Zoom.
Step 4: Transcribe questions and responses for at least the first three non-demographic questions of the interview. At least two typed pages of transcript must be submitted. A sample transcript is in the Topic Materials for this topic. Add this transcript to Appendix A in this document.
Step 5: Complete Sections 1 and 2 in the tables below.

Part 2: Note Taking for Data Collection and Management Section
Complete the following steps to prepare to draft the data collection and management section of your dissertation. Note: Completion of this exercise does not constitute field testing of your interview questions.
Step 1: Describe the Interview Setting and Materials What is the location for the interview? Who will be present? What, if any materials will be provided (informed consent, recording devices, handouts, etc.). Enter you answers in the box.
Step 2: Describe Your Interview Process: Detail how you will introduce the interview process to the participant and remind the participant of key aspects of the interview process including the purpose of the research, the importance of the information to be provided by the participant, how (if at all) the interview transcript and research findings will be shared with the participants, expected length of the interview that is about to occur, and the format and process for the interview. Step 3: Describe the Transcription and Note Taking Process Describe the logistics for recording the interview, securing a transcript from the Zoom software, and reviewing the transcript for accuracy of information. Part 3: Draft of the Data Collection and Management Section of the Dissertation
Step 1: Locate the most current version of the qualitative dissertation template on the DC Network.
Step 2: Use the most current version of the qualitative dissertation template to create an initial draft of the data collection and management section of your dissertation.
Step 3: Save your draft and upload the most recent copy including the newly drafted data collection and management section to the digital classroom.
