Researchers at PCC are interested in knowing if watching psycho-thriller TV shows leads to increases in feeling fear. They recruit 20 participants by acquiring a list of phone numbers for all PCC students, and randomly generating numbers to contact until researchers reach a sample size of 20.
Once participants are selected, researchers randomly assign half of the participants to watch psycho-thriller shows (i.e., Ted Bundy Tapes, You, True Detective), and half to watch non-scary shows (i.e., Tidying Up and Great British Baking Show).
After watching the shows, researchers measure how fearful participants are using the Hitchcock Fear Scale. This ranges from 1-100, with 1 meaning no fear, and 100 meaning very fearful.
