Researchers wanted to know whether the manufacturing sources of insulation, and the ways in which insulation was cut effected its strength, when used in building homes.
Five lots of bales of insulation were obtained, one from each of five different manufacturing sources. From each manufacturer, lots were obtained through random selection. Each lot consisted of twenty bales. From each lot, a random sample of ten bales was obtained, each of which was cut lengthwise. The other ten bales from each lot were cut crosswise. Strengths were measured in foot-pounds.
All the relevant assumptions and conditions for two-way ANOVA are satisfied.
We wish to test if the type of cut has an effect on the mean strength. The p-value of the relevant test is 0.049.
Give your conclusion in the context of the problem.
