Participants were drawn from four society types: Foraging, Farming, Natural Resources, and Industrial. To measure fairness, participants played a dictator game in which they were given an average day's salary (for that society), which they would split between themselves and one other person. The dependent variable was the percentage of the gift that the participant allocated to his/her partner. The data appear in the table below.
