Respect is a key issue in the learning environment. Respect eliminates judgment in the classroom. Students who respect each other are less likely to make fun of other students for making mistakes. It is okay for students to make mistakes because one of the major ways we learn things is by making mistakes. The mistakes part is also the second part of my mission statement. I want students to know that the classroom is a judgment free zone, which means that no student or I will look down at them or berate them for their mistakes. All of the concepts of my mission statement coincide with each other. Basically, this all comes back to respect. The students need to respect me and each other and they should expect the same from me. If we can accomplish a sense of respect within the classroom, there should be no reason that the students should be able to express their knowledge and understanding. Building respect in the classroom allows for students to collaborate with each other better and share their ideas, which allows the students to learn from each other, which is an important learning strategy l have. I want my classroom to be a comfortable and respectful space for the students while having structure, so learning is the main focus of the classroom. There are several
