List and describe the types of interpersonal communication. Interpersonal communication refers to the process and practice of exchanging ideas, information, and emotional experiences between yourself and others. This type of communication can be segmented between four types: verbal, listening, written, and nonverbal. In verbal communication, anything that is spoken with intonation or auditory is considered verbal. Listening to communication is different from simply hearing communication. Hearing is involuntary, whereas listening is intentional and takes more effort to do. Written communication refers to anything that uses letters, symbols, GIFS, or memes. This includes emails and text messages. Written communication has been said to be more legally valid than verbal communication over the years because of its validity. Lastly, nonverbal communication is the use of body language to get a point across without actually speaking. Examples include jazz hands, air quotes, and facial expressions. Identify how leaders can have a positive impact on their organizations through building trust using an example. To be a trustworthy leader, one must be approachable, do what they say they're going to do, show empathy. be authentic, and be supportive. If a leader lacks in any of these attributes, the trust their team has in them will falter. One example I can give is my relationship with my staff at my job. As a Kitchen Manager, all of my cooks and chefs look to me to lead the way and solve any problems they might have. I have my flaws, but I always let my cooks know that I support them and stand behind them with anything they might ever need. I had a line cook who was struggling and instead of disciplining him, I took the time to speak to him and understand his life circumstances. I went above and beyond to get him the help he needed and 6 months later he became my back of house shift leader. Without us building that trust, I'm not sure where he or my kitchen team would be today
