Respond to a classmate discussion post

Happy employees create happy customers. That's a loaded slogan and can go either way depending on who is defining what that slogan means to them. As the second part of this assignment leads to discussing "culture", I think happy employees depend on the culture of the workplace. Some employees will genuinely be happy doing absolutely nothing while thinking they are contributing to their duties and work culture. Those types of employees will want everyone else to do the work for them. However, for the sake of this exercise; the manager wants to make the employee happy, right? If the manager or owner does not get a grip on this and do it quickly, the customers will absolutely not be happy. There has to be balance with making employees happy, creating a culture to get hard working, responsible individuals on your team, and in turn make the customers happy. I don't believe it's as cut and dry as happy employees create happy customers.

Employees want to be treated fairly, get paid for the work they are doing and on time mind you. It is a pretty simple philosophy and I feel is undervalued in the work place. I believe that happy employees that are treated and paid fairly will stick around for a while no matter what the job is. If that's the philosophy of management, then yes that will create happy customers. The manager needs to be aware of what type of employees are on board and what type of employees they hire. There are some that will take advantage of the fact that a manager just wants to make them happy, and there are some that will respect that a manager wants them to be happy and still do their job but be happy while doing it. It is true that if you love your job, you will never work a day in your life.
