Her mentorship has been highly beneficial and the reason for my advancement in my organization. Training would be necessary for me to grow as a mentor in the future. Many believe that if a manager is successful, then they'll be a successful mentor. Unfortunately, many are thrown into the role of a mentor with no interest and end up being dysfunctional, simply having no time to take on a mentee. This lack of interest eventually harms the mentee. I would welcome the training because I know being a mentor can have lasting effects. This was evident when Karen Russell mentioned its lasting impacts on Maya Angelou. To be a mentor myself, I would emulate my cousin's virtues and self-awareness. In addition, I would be approachable and have high emotional intelligence, active listening, and effective communication skills.
