Respond to my professors feedback in regards to my discussion post: Quintaveius, How would you measure the effectiveness of your communication plan? What metrics would you track? Dr. B Hi Class! What did the school planners do correctly? I found this case study interesting. There were some things that the university did correctly. For instance, the strategic planning was reserved for a select few and was not isolated. The artist refers to a "hundred of hours of open forums, discussion, debate and deliberation," "while making sure that the voices that helped shape the plan are championed," and "after so many months of discussion across the campus," suggesting that representatives from various groups are present during strategic planning. Additionally, communications were made externally of the strategic planning team by stating, "We publicized the plan to alumni stakeholders and our internal community." Finally, the communication in the article illustrates a sense of urgency and importance as it relates to participation, belonging, and accountability in the entire community and stakeholders. What is being forgotten and should be implanted? The article indicates that messages are too often deleted or instantly disregarded by faculty who may feel a lack of ownership is ever-present. Through my work experience, the content of messages is essential for the person responsible for said communications. The messenger's audience has an affinity for paying closer attention to communications from someone they communicate regularly, such as a manager or supervisor. It helps to translate or interpret the message to something that illustrates a direct impact on members of the audience. In today's society, many people want to know how circumstances will directly affect their situation. Thus, the manager or supervisors should consider the entire message when determining how it will affect their workers. Another factor to mention and consider is the leadership's commitment and buy-in into the matter. This article mentions the importance of this experience to the overall experience by declaring, "While the new provost brought extensive strategic implementation experience from her prior post, she was not a party to nuanced deliberations that shaped our plan." Thus, leadership's active involvement and promotion of the process are required if they expect downstream staff to adhere to the same principles. How would I incorporate the lessons learned by Monmouth University into my overall implementation and communication Strategic IT Plan? The first task would be to establish a communication plan. Implementing the Strategic IT Plan is essential and should be communicated via email to each affected stakeholder. The communication plan should address the target audience and how, when, and by whom the communication will be sent. Other elements include planning the expected delivery time and how the message will be communicated. In the above example, leveraging the managers or supervisors is considered a viable means of in-person communication. Depending on the audience members, the expected urgency, response, and other factors will dictate if other forms of communication need to be considered. If so, these considerations will be made at that time. If applicable to other scenarios, the method could be templated to be referenced in future identical scenarios. For instance, utilizing the firm's Intranet may be viable regarding general knowledge, while other instances may call for an in-person or virtual town hall
