"As a store manager at an auto parts store, it is very imperative to maintain the safety of employees because we deal with a lot of heavy objects, chemicals, and other things that can be a safety hazard. We never judge any candidates and we treat everyone with respect. What I would do if I interview anyone with a physical disability I would let them know the job description and all the stuff we deal with, and also ask about their past employment. If they are hired, I would determine what accommodation they would need in order for them to be safe and if answer any questions they might have. The company has provided us a prep sheet that we are allowed to read to the candidate of the physical aspects of the job, after we read it to them we are required to ask if they may perform the physical aspects or if there is anything that needs to be accommodated. If a accommodation is required we are to notify our human resource director prior to the hire so that way accommodation is made for the company and them. The ADA and EEOC are good resources for managers to use to help them with some regulations and other questions anyone might have."
