Suppliers/Manufacturers and Distributors

The North face which is owned by VF Corp has their supply chain around the globe but, managing this complexity is made possible using a network of information systems for product development, forecasting, order management and warehouse management, attached to our core enterprise resource management platforms.VF Corporation has 28 manufacturing facilities and utilizes approximately 1,800 contractor manufacturing facilities in 60 countries. There are also 29 distribution centers and 1,246 retail stores.

Shoppers

Customers are an important segment of the supply chain. With the increase in making the company more sustainable they are an intricate part of how the north face makes its decisions. Satisfaction is Important as anything The North Face does wrong can have a negative effect on their company. The North Face has increased investments into certain aspects as renewed/remade which is for the customers and is a more sustainable way or buying clothes.

Management

Management in the VF Corp continually monitors political risks and developments related to duties, tariffs and quotas. They limit VF's sourcing exposure through, among other measures, diversifying geographies with a mix of VF-operated and contracted production, shifting of production among countries and contractors, sourcing production to merchandise categories where product is readily available and sourcing from countries with tariff preference and free trade agreements. VF Corp does not directly or indirectly source products from suppliers in countries identified by the State Department as state sponsors of terrorism and subject to U.S. economic sanctions and export controls.

Improvement

One area that can be improved upon with The North Face is their suppliers. The North Face is trying to become more sustainable, but they have been caught up in controversy before when it comes to who they source their materials through. A European-based animal welfare group proved the down in some of the brands' products came from geese force-fed and live-plucked in Hungary. This flew in the face of assurances to the contrary that the companies had received from California-based Allied Feather & Down, a huge supplier of down. They need to incorporate a sourcing map for their products to show they are ethical in their practices.
