• How many stores is Dollar General planning to open during its 2018 and 2019 fiscal years? By what percentage would these new stores increase the size of the company?

31,648 stores growth would be the planned expansion during the 2018-2019 fiscal periods. From an expansion standpoint, I was not able to find the direct number for total stores. The Dollar General information only lists over 17,000 stores nationwide. From the expansion goals compared to projected stores this expansion would be double-digit percentages.

• How much cash did General Dollar spend on investing activities during its 2016, 2017, and 2018 fiscal years? Do you think the amount spent on investing activities represents the full costs that General Dollar incurred to open new stores? Explain your answer.

The figure of $1,711,558 was the figure compiled by Dollar General to reflect the investment in that time frame. I do not think that this figure represents the total costs. The total costs in reference to reported figures. I believe that construction and other 3^rd party charges have some form of long-term agreement in place for raising these structures to benefit all parties involved.

• Where did General Dollar get the cash used to make these investments?

Dollar General as a company has the available funds to select these strategic investments. From growth and existing lines of credit, the company does an outstanding job of meeting a niche need for rural communities.
