Another reason I am motivated to go into the Human Services field is that I am very interested in mental health. I have always been really interested in the brain and how it works especially in regards to mental health. During my general studies degree I took some classes on psychology and ethics and I realized I was very interested in that and wanted a career in a field that goes with that. This led me to pursuing a Human Services degree and potentially a psychology degree later on. This will be positive for me because I will be working in a field that I am interested and invested in. However, there can be a negative component to this as well. It is possible I will lose sight of treating people as individuals and instead be more invested in the mental health side of what is going on. This would not be good as focusing on the individual is very important in the Human Service field like we read in the reading this week. Because of this I will need to be very self-aware of myself to make sure I am not stepping out of bounds in that regard.
